Mondsee: climb every mountain

Friday was our full day trip to Salzburg which included a long drive. We went to Mondsee to see the church. The locals have funny attitude to that famous movie made locally. Our tour guide said that Austrians cannot understand English speaking people's fascination with it. They think we come to their beautiful village for the scenery and quaint buildings. quite patronizing they are but not so above it all that they do not make money out of us. Loads of souvenirs at this church where the wedding scenes were filmed. Went to great pains to tell us that in fact the real Maria and the captain did not marry in this church. We English speaking tourists are so silly and will believe any Hollywood nonsense. For your information, they married in the nunnery but the nunnery was not big enough for the film crew. We went for the scenery but sang along with the singing to be sociable.
